Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian automobile manufacturer based in Chennai ( Tamil Nadu ). It is the first joint Renault and Nissan production facility .

history

The company was founded in 2007. Vehicle production began in 2010 with an initial 1900 employees.

By 2016, the company had become the country's second largest vehicle exporter. The plant has been operating in a three-shift system since March 2016. At the same time, the plant employed 5846 people. A number of 7,500 employees is given for 2017.

The company had a market share of 6% in India in 2017, which was significantly lower two years earlier.

Models

The first model produced was the Nissan Micra .

In 2016, the plant produced 12 different models, including the Renault Kwid and the Datsun redi-GO . Other models are the Nissan Sunny and the Renault models Pulse , Fluence and Koleos . Nissan vehicles account for 20% of total production. By the end of 2017, 100,000 copies of the redi-GO had been produced.

The Kwid had a domestic production share of 98% in 2016.
