Bajaj Auto is a company from India with headquarters in Pune , Maharashtra . It is one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in India and the fourth largest manufacturer of two and three wheel vehicles in the world. The company is located in Waluj near Aurangabad , in Akurdi and in Chakan, near Pune. Bajaj Auto manufactures and exports scooters, motorcycles and auto rickshaws . The company is headed by Rahul Bajaj .
history
Bajaj Auto was founded on November 29, 1945 under the company name M / s Bachraj Trading Corporation Private Limited . It started selling imported motorcycles and scooters in India. In 1959 the company obtained a license from the Indian government to manufacture motorcycles and scooters in India. In 1970 the company produced the 100,000th vehicle. As early as 1977, the company produced 100,000 vehicles in one financial year. In 1985 the plant in Waluj near Aurangabad was opened. In 1995 the ten millionth vehicle was manufactured.
On Forbes' 2000 largest companies list, Bajaj Auto was ranked 1946 in 2006. Bajaj has been involved in the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM since 2007 .
Bajaj Auto should not be confused with the manufacturer Bajaj-Tempo (which has been trading as Force Motors since 2005 ), with which it was linked for a long time through mutual minority interests.
