Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a global provider of IT services, consulting services and business solutions.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is headquartered in Mumbai, India. The company is listed on the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange in India.

TCS 'Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM ™) comprises a consulting-oriented, integrated portfolio with IT, BPO, IT infrastructure, engineering and assurance services. The model is characterized by the flexibility and scalability of globally available resources.

TCS has been active in Germany and Austria since 1991. The German headquarters are in Frankfurt am Main, and TCS also has a regional delivery center in Düsseldorf . It serves as an interface to the GNDM. Consultants at home and abroad look after over 80 German and Austrian companies, including 14 DAX 30 companies and some large medium-sized companies. The services range from application development , system integration and consulting to digital business transformation. The most important customers include Deutsche Lufthansa and Bombardier Transportation .

Parent company and company history

TCS is part of the Tata Group , an Indian conglomerate. The company was founded in 1868 by Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata (* 1839 in India, † 1904 in Germany).

The Tata Group today comprises over 100 operationally independent companies in seven industries: communications and information technology, engineering (including the Tata Motors automotive division ), steel , services (e.g. the Taj hotel group), energy , consumer goods and chemicals . More than 600,000 people work for the group on six continents and in over 100 countries.

In 1968 the Tata Group expanded its business to include information technology : Fakir Chand Kohli founded Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). TCS subsequently founded 19 global solution centers.

European Solution Centers are located, for example, in Düsseldorf (Germany) , Budapest (Hungary) , Luxembourg (Luxembourg) and Peterborough (Great Britain) . They act as an interface to the Global Network Delivery Model and implement offshoring models. TCS currently has 145 Solution Centers in 19 countries worldwide. European branches also exist in Switzerland , the Netherlands , Sweden , Belgium ; Denmark , Finland , France , Italy , Norway , Poland , Portugal , Spain and Austria .

The Düsseldorf location primarily covers the areas of application development , architecture and consulting, product outsourcing , system integration and testing. The focus is on agile software development and service-oriented architecture models (SOA) . Other German locations are Munich , Hamburg , Stuttgart and Walldorf.

TCS has industry knowledge in the areas of banking and finance, insurance, manufacturing, transport, telecommunications, media and information services, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, energy and utilities, and retail and consumer goods trading.

TCS supports customers in using digital innovations throughout the organization - with solutions for social networks, mobile, cloud and big data.

  • Social networks: TCS supports social networks with tools and applications that enable real-time monitoring, automation and analysis of customer interactions on social media.
  • Mobile: Mobile solutions from TCS are used by retailers for a seamless customer experience across branches and mobile applications. In addition, the company offers solutions that pay for the changed television behavior through the parallel use of smartphone and TV set (" second screen ").
  • Cloud: TCS supports cloud computing with corresponding applications.

Tata Consultancy Services is a strategy and technology partner of SAP , Microsoft , IBM , Oracle , Siemens and Software AG as well as high-ranking universities in Germany, including the nine technical universities (in particular TU Darmstadt ), WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management , the Otto Friedrichs University Bamberg , the Justus Liebig University Gießen and the Frankfurt School of Finance .

The company also invests in research and development projects and cooperates with leading research institutions such as the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft . TCS also supports the Academic Interface Program (AIP) and works with the student organization AIESEC. Together with the Hessen-Technikum, TCS also supports women in their career entry into the MINT area.

In 2008 TCS opened a Center of Excellence with SAP for the regions Europe, Middle East and Africa.
