format
The tournament is divided into two phases. Since the everyone-against-everyone format would have meant too many games in the preliminary round, the teams were divided into two sub-groups, but the scoring is as if everyone were playing in one group. In the group stage, the teams were divided into two subgroups of five teams each. Each team plays one home and one away game against the teams in its own group, only one game against four teams in the other group and one home and away game against the remaining team. So each team comes to 14 preliminary round games. There are two points for a win and no points for a defeat. If no result can be determined, both teams will each receive one point. In the event of a tie after the regular number of overs, a super over is carried out as a decision . The playoffs at the end of the tournament have also been modified, they are now played in the page playoff system . In a first round, the first round against the second and the third against the fourth. The winner of the first game is directly qualified for the final. The loser competes against the winner of the second game, whose winner in turn qualifies for the final. For the Champions League Twenty20 2011 , the first two qualifying rounds as well as the winner of the second game of the first playoff round between the group third and fourth.
Results
The first four after the preliminary round qualify for the playoffs.
