The Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium , often abbreviated to PCA Stadium , is a cricket stadium in Mohali , Chandigarh , India . In April 2015, the stadium was named after the former President of the Punjab Cricket Association, Inderjit Bindra.

Capacity & Infrastructure

The stadium was opened in 1993 and has a capacity of 26,950 spectators. It has a floodlight system which, in contrast to comparable stadiums, is low in order not to affect the flight operations of the nearby Chandigarh Airport . The ends are called Pavilion End and City End .

International cricket

The first international game was a one-day international between India and South Africa on November 22, 1993. The first test cricket was between December 10 and 14, 1994 between India and the West Indies . At the Cricket World Cup 1996 a semifinal was played at this point, at the Cricket World Cup 2011 two preliminary round matches and a semifinals were played.

National cricket

The stadium serves as the home of the Punjab cricket team in both the Ranji Trophy and other national competitions. It is also used for some home games of the Kings XI Punjab franchise in the Indian Premier League .
