Champions League Twenty20 2011

The 2011 Champions League Twenty20 was an international Twenty20 - Cricket Competition, played between clubs from Australia , England , India , South Africa , New Zealand , Sri Lanka and the West Indies . It was the third edition of the tournament and took place between September 23 and October 9, 2011 in India. The winner was the Mumbai Indians team, who defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore with 31 runs in the final.

Attendees

The participants qualified through their national Twenty20 championships. The tournament is divided into a qualification and a main round. In the qualification, the champions from England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the West Indies, as well as the second from England and the fourth from India. These are:

Originally was Eden Gardens in Kolkata provided, but had to due to heavy rainfall in advance of the Games on 20 September 2011 will be withdrawn.

format

In the qualifying round, two groups of three teams each are played, in which everyone plays against everyone. The two group winners and the best runners-up qualify for the main round. The ten teams qualified for this are in turn divided into two groups in which everyone plays against everyone else. The group first and second determined in this way then qualify for the semi-finals, the two winners of which then contest the final.
