The Mumbai Indians (often just abbreviated to MI or Mumbai ) is an Indian cricket team that plays in the Indian Premier League . The franchise represents Mumbai . The "Mumbai Indians" were founded in the course of the introduction of the Indian Premier League in 2008. The franchise was bought by Reliance Industries Ltd and was the most expensive of the 8 IPL-playing teams with the equivalent of around 100 million euros. MI's home stadium is Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. So far, the Mumbai Indians have won the title four times. Mumbai Indian player Lasith Malinga is the IPL's 'Top Wicket Taker' (147 wickets in 101 innings)
