The Nameless Valley System nature reserve is an approx. 89  hectare nature reserve (NSG) between Silbach and Winterberg . The area was designated as a NSG by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Winterberg landscape plan . A large part of the NSG is also designated as part of the fauna-flora-habitat area Bergwiesen near Winterberg (FFH no. DE-4717-305; 501 ha).

description

The source and the upper reaches of the nameless lies in the NSG. The rivers Büre , Festerbach and Rabenseifen or at least sections of these small nameless inflows also run in the NSG .

Many rare plants and animals on the Red List occur in the NSG and FFH areas . In it there is extensive Wet meadow , the locally by binsen- and sedges are interspersed rich source marshes. The nameless and their tributaries are completely unobstructed in the NSG. The spruce population there was reduced to a single spruce plot in the winter of 2008/09 .

The North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation has purchased 37.67 hectares in the NSG since 1990 at the request of the Association for Nature and Bird Protection in the Hochsauerlandkreis (VNV). The areas are managed by the VNV.

The areas of the foundation are extensively grazed with cattle according to the specifications of the culture-landscape-care program of the Hochsauerlandkreis.

fauna

A special feature of the valley, which is lined with wooded mountain slopes, is the occurrence of the whinchat and the meadow pipit . The black stork , which breeds in the forests to the south, is a frequent source of food by the stream. The snipe , which occurred as a breeding bird until the beginning of the 1990s, has become extinct as a breeding bird in the Nameless Valley System nature reserve and in the entire Hochsauerland district. On the other hand, it can be observed on the migration in autumn and spring. Individual snipes also rest for a long time in the NSG. Even with high snow conditions, individual birds were found in snow-free spring areas.

Others

In the NSG there is a nameless desert west of the road access into the Büretal.
