The Hillebachtal nature reserve is a 50.49 hectare nature reserve (NSG) east of Hildfeld in the urban area of Winterberg . In 2008 the area was designated as an NSG by the Hochsauerlandkreis in the Winterberg landscape plan . The NSG is almost entirely part of the FFH area Wiesen in the Springebach and Hillebach valleys near Niedersfeld (DE 4717-304). In the east of the NSG, the urban area of Medebach and the nature reserve Neue Born - Upper Hilletal borders directly.

Area description

The NSG Hillebachtal begins shortly after the source of the Hillebach . Except for a few small red spruce areas , the rest of the NSG is grassland. In the grassland there is wet and wet grassland, spring swamps, poor pastures and hay meadows. The grassland is mostly grazed with cattle .

Purpose of protection and protective measures

It was designated to protect the grassland. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”. The main reason for protection is the maintenance and restoration of the biotope types and the protection of flora and fauna in the area. To ensure the coherence and implementation of the European Natura 2000 system of protected areas .
