The nature reserve Bergwiesen bei Altastenberg with a size of 34.62 hectares is located near Altastenberg in the urban area of Winterberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Winterberg landscape plan . The NSG belongs to the FFH area Bergwiesen bei Winterberg (DE 4717-305).

Area description

The NSG is mountain meadows. Adjacent mountain meadows belong to the nature reserve grassland slopes and plateaus around Altastenberg / Neuastenberg / Langewiese / Hoheleye / Mollseifen .

Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the mountain meadows with species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
