Mountain meadows nature reserve near Winterberg

The nature reserve Bergwiesen bei Winterberg is a 138.04 hectare nature reserve (NSG) in Winterberg, North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG belongs to the 501 hectare FFH area Bergwiesen near Winterberg with the number 4717–305. The area was designated in 2008 with the landscape plan Winterberg 2008 by the Hochsauerlandkreis as (NSG). The NSG consists of four separate areas around Winterberg.

Habitats

In the NSG there are contiguous, supraregional important grassland areas in valley systems and on slopes and mountain tops around the town of Winterberg on the Winterberg plateau with a biotope mosaic of extensive, species-rich wet, wet and lean grassland and grasslands, as well as sometimes rare forest communities. The grassland areas are used extensively as meadow and pasture grasslands.

Protective measures

Some areas are owned by the North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and are extensively managed in accordance with the requirements of the culture-landscape-maintenance program of the Hochsauerlandkreis.
