The In der Strei nature reserve is a 50- hectare nature reserve east of Silbach in the urban area of Winterberg . In 2008 the area was designated as an NSG by the Hochsauerlandkreis in the Winterberg landscape plan . The district government of Arnsberg was first designated as a NSG in 1957. Since 2004, 30 hectares of the NSG have also been designated as an FFH area in the Strei (DE-4717-311).

The NSG covers parts of the headwaters of the Vossmecke with flat and transitional moors, near-natural source streams, swelling alluvial forest, grassland and forest. The grassland is grazed with cattle .

"At an altitude of 650 m above sea level within the extensive Winterberg forest lies the headwaters of the Vossmecke, which has been under nature protection as the slope moor" In der Strei "since 1957. The core area has spring rivulets that branch out in the shape of fingers are intermeshed with peat soils (organogenic soils), small areas also with soils of strong waterlogging. Organogenic soils also occur in the spring troughs of side sieves that meet the main valley in the middle section of the valley. "
