Alte Grimme nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alte Grimme nature reserve is a 13.32 hectare nature reserve (NSG) southeast of Elkeringhausen in the urban area of Winterberg . In 2008 the area was designated as an NSG by the Hochsauerlandkreis in the Winterberg landscape plan .

description

The NSG includes a beech forest . In the forest there are slate rocks , steep slopes with more than 50% inclination and rubble heaps. The NSG is located on the western flank of the Alte Grimme mountain at an altitude of 550 m to 740 m.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
