The nature reserve Walsbachtal is a 12.6 hectare nature reserve (NSG) southwest of Züschen in the urban area of Winterberg . The area was designated as a NSG by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Winterberg landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG consists of the valley area of the Walsbach and a side valley. The NSG includes the valley locations with their grassland and some smaller forest areas. The grassland is mostly grazed with cattle . In addition to wet grassland on the valley floor, there are poor pastures on the valley slope in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designed to preserve and develop grassland and forest areas. Also designated as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
