The Odeborn valley system nature reserve is a 57.54 hectare nature reserve (NSG) south and east of Neuastenberg in the urban area of Winterberg . In 2008 the area was designated as an NSG by the Hochsauerlandkreis in the Winterberg landscape plan . The NSG consists of three separate areas and is partly part of the FFH area Bergwiesen bei Winterberg .

description

The NSG covers the area of the Odeborn stream and its valley areas. The NSG consists mainly of grassland on both sides of the stream and tributaries of the stream. The grassland is mostly grazed with cattle . Forest areas are partially included in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect stream and grassland with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
