The Silberberg nature reserve is a 20.51 hectare nature reserve (NSG) northeast of Silbach in the urban area of Winterberg . In the NSG lies the summit of the Silberberg at 747 m. In 2008 the area was designated as an NSG by the Hochsauerlandkreis in the Winterberg landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG includes the local beech forest .

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the maintenance and development of a beech forest and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
