The MA Chidambaram Stadium is a cricket - stadium in the Indian city of Chennai . The current name goes back to the former president of the Indian Cricket Association (BCCI), MA Chidambaram . The first test match was played here in February 1934 against England . At the Cricket World Cups, numerous matches were also played in this stadium. During 1987 Cricket World Cup there were two group matches, the 1996 Cricket World Cup quarter-finals and the 2011 Cricket World Cup four group matches.
