The Rajasthan Royals (abbreviation: RR ) are an Indian cricket team that plays in the Indian Premier League . The team was founded in 2008 with the first season of the IPL and represents the city of Jaipur and the state of Rajasthan . The home stadium is Sawai Mansingh Stadium . The team was banned from the IPL for 2 seasons (until 2017) together with the Chennai Super Kings due to a betting scandal . In 2013 they were able to qualify for the Champions League Twenty20 , where they made it to the final. The Rajasthan Royals were able to win the Indian Premier League in the first season ( 2008 ).
