The Pune Warriors India were a cricket team, which Pune represented in the Indian Premier League from 2011-2013. The team played together with the Kochi Tuskers Kerala from the Indian Premier League 2011 as a new franchise in the IPL. The home stadium was the DY Patil Stadium , from the 2012 season was switched to the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium .

founding

On March 21, 2010 it was announced that Sahara Adventure Sports Limited had won the bid for the rights to a Pune franchise. The franchise is the most expensive Indian Premier League franchise at ₹ 19 billion.

2011 season

As the new team in the season, the franchise had no players, so they had to sign many players for the new team during the IPL auction on January 9, 2010. They signed well-known international players such as Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa, Jesse Ryder and Angelo Mathews. The team finished the season in the preliminary round and finished 9th out of 10 places. Of the 14 games they won 4, they lost 9 and 1 no result .

Retirement from the IPL

Due to disagreements with the BCCI about the annual fees and poor performance, the franchise was terminated.
