Reliance Industries Limited (RIGD: London Intl) is India 's largest privately held company based in Mumbai . The company was founded in 1966 by Dhirubhai Ambani . In 1977 the company went public on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The group was split up in 2006 after the sons of Dhirubhai Ambani, his heirs Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani fell out over the joint management. Mukesh Ambani continues to head Reliance Industries, Anil Ambani the Reliance - Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group.
