In 2003, Sterlite took over Hindustan Zinc . In 2007, Sterlite Industries was acquired by Vedanta Resources . In 2013, Sterlite Industries and Sesa Goa merged. In 2015, Sesa Sterlite changed its name to Vedanta Limited . In 2016, the oil producer Cairn India was completely taken over.
