Jharsuguda is a city in the east Indian state of Odisha . Jharsuguda has the status of a municipality and is divided into 24 wards . It is the administrative seat of the district of the same name .

Jharsuguda is to the west of Odisha. The river Ib flows 6 km west of the city.

The national highway NH 200 connects the city with Raigarh, 65 km to the west . To the east the road leads to the coast where the NH 5 runs. Main roads lead to Sundargarh, 30 km to the north, and Sambalpur , 40 km to the south . Jharsuguda is connected to the railway network. There are railway lines to Raigarh, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
