Saint-Barbant is a commune Déléguée in the French community Val-d'Oire-et-Gartempe with 314 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine , in the Haute-Vienne department and Arrondissement of Bellac . Since the canton of Mézières-sur-Issoire was dissolved in 2015, the municipality of Saint-Barbant came to the canton of Bellac . The residents call themselves Saint-Barbanteaux .

On January 1, 2019, the municipality of Saint-Barbant merged with Thiat , Bussière-Poitevine and Darnac to form the Commune nouvelle Val-d'Oire-et-Gartempe. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée.

location

The municipality bordered Adriers to the north-west, Bussière-Poitevine to the north-east, Saint-Bonnet-de-Bellac to the east, Saint-Martial-sur-Isop to the south, Asnières-sur-Blour to the south-west and Luchapt to the west and Mouterre-sur-Blourde .
