Thiat is a village and a former French community with 138 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Haute-Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belonged to the arrondissement of Bellac and the canton of Châteauponsac .

With effect from January 1, 2019, Thiat merged with Bussière-Poitevine , Saint-Barbant and Darnac to form the Commune nouvelle Val-d'Oire-et-Gartempe and since then has had the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality .

location

It bordered to the north-west and north by Lathus-Saint-Rémy , to the east by Oradour-Saint-Genest , to the south by Darnac and to the south-west by Bussière-Poitevine. The Brame forms the border with Darnac and flows as a right tributary into the Gartempe
