TIBCO Software Inc. is a US software company based in Palo Alto , California. TIBCO develops software products for the networking and integration of applications and systems in companies ( Enterprise Application Integration ). In Germany, TIBCO Software is based in Munich and Frankfurt am Main .
history
TIBCO emerged from part of Teknekron Software Systems Inc. , which was founded in 1985 . In 1994 Teknekron was taken over by Reuters Group PLC and in 1996 it was established as an independent unit under the name TIBCO . Of central importance for the company was the development of a bus-based network solution, which later became known as TIB (abbreviation for "The Information Bus"). It was characterized on the one hand by its consistently message-centered architecture and on the other by the use of the multicast protocol, which is advantageous for the simultaneous distribution of data to many recipients . The name "TIBCO" (abbreviation for "The Information Bus Company") reflects the central importance of the information bus , which continues to be the basis of TIBCO messaging products (product name Rendezvous ). After the success of networking on the New York Stock Exchange , both the portfolio and the customer base expanded. In 2007, TIBCO put the number of its customers at more than 3000.
In November 2014 the company was bought by Vista Equity Partners and delisted from NASDAQ. In the course of the takeover, the product range was intensively consolidated and reduced to the areas of Business Intelligence and Business Process Management.
