Yulon Motor Co. Ltd. , previously Yulon Machinery Co. Ltd. , is an automobile manufacturer from the Republic of China (Taiwan) . Instead of Yulon, there is also the spelling Yue Loong for the company.

Company history

Ching-Ling Yen (died 1981) founded Yulon Machinery Co. Ltd on September 19, 1953 . In 1956 the production of automobiles began. In 1957 there was a collaboration with Nissan . Then in 1960 the company name changed to Yulon Motor Co. Ltd. Around 5000 vehicles were built annually in the 1970s. There has been a collaboration with Renault since 2000 . The connection with Nissan was transferred to the separate company Yulon-Nissan Motor on May 20, 2003 . In 2005 General Motors founded Yulon-GM Motors based in New Taipei .

Yulon Motor is located in Xihu near Sanyi in Miaoli County and was headed by Kenneth KT Yen in late 2015.

The brand name was initially YLN and from 1993 to 1997 Yulon . From 1997 the vehicles were marketed as Nissan.

In 2009 the new brands Luxgen and Tobe were introduced.

Exports

In 1983 export to the Middle East and Caribbean countries began . Exports to the Netherlands in the 1990s remained very low with 23 vehicles sold. Vehicles have been exported to Southeast Asia since 1999 and to the People's Republic of China from 2000 . In June 2020, the company announced that it would stop exporting to China.

Brand names YLN and Yulon

The first vehicle was presented to the public in October 1956. This was an off-road vehicle . It was created under a license from Kaiser-Frazer and was based on the Willys MB . The series models were named YLN YL 1 and YLN YL 2 .

In March 1960, the first passenger car appeared with the YLN 701 . This sedan was the licensed edition of the Datsun Bluebird . The four-cylinder engine had a displacement of 1200 cc .

The YLN 704 from 1962 corresponded to the Datsun Sunny and the YLN 705 again corresponded to the Bluebird.

1964 followed with the YLN 801 a model that the Datsun Cedric with panoramic - windshield corresponded.

In 1984 the range consisted of YLN 311 (Nissan Sunny), YLN 721 ( Nissan Stanza ) and YLN 807 (Nissan Cedric).

In October 1986 the first self-designed model Feeling 101 was presented. Parts from the Nissan Stanza were used in this four-door notchback sedan. Various engines with either 1600 cm³ or 1800 cm³ displacement drove the front wheels.

The New Sentra followed in December 1990 .

In 1991 the Feeling 101 was revised to the Feeling 102 , and in 1993 to Jing-Bing .

Brand name Nissan

In March 1993 the March appeared , which corresponded to the Nissan Micra .

The Cefiro followed in February 1996 and the Verita in October 1997 .

With the Udtrack , the first truck appeared in November 1999 .

The Sentra 180 followed in June 2000 .

Brand name Luxgen

Luxgen, short for luxury and genius, was introduced as a luxury brand. In 2011, the Neora prototype was presented at Auto Shanghai .

At the beginning of 2018, the S3 and S5 models were available as sedans , U5 , U6 and U7 as SUVs , M7 and V7 as van and M7 EV with electric motor .

Brand name Tobe

This brand was introduced for small cars in 2009 . The Tobe M'car appeared as the first model . It is similar to the Toyota Aygo , but based on a Nissan. At the end of 2015, however, Yulon no longer mentioned the brand on its website.
