The Tama Junior ( Japanese た ま ジ ュ ニ ア , Tama Junia ) was a small car that the Tōkyō Denki Jidōsha KK (English Tokyo Electric Motor Car Co. , German Tokyo Electric Vehicles & Co. ) in Japan from 1948 to 1951 as their successor first electric vehicle Tama E4S-47 manufactured. In 1949, the automobile manufacturer, named after its manufacture Tama in Tokyo in Tama Denki Jidosha (dt. Electric vehicles Tama um). It was later Prince Motor Company (engl. Prince Motor Company , dt. Prince Motor Company ).
Like its predecessor, the small car had a ladder frame and a body in mixed construction (wooden frame, which is planked with sheet metal). The pontoon shape, which looked similar to that of the Lloyd LP300, was new . The four-seat sedan had four doors; the front doors were hinged at the front, the rear doors at the back, so that they hit the B-pillars. The body was very simple, smooth and high-sided. Instead of indicators, the vehicle had indicators in the A-pillars. The windshield was split and inclined in a V-shape.
As with the first Tama, the batteries had an operating voltage of 40 V. The electric motor installed at the front was also carried over from the predecessor, had a voltage of 36 V and needed a maximum of 120 A. The drive power was 4.5 HP (3.3 kW ) specified. The top speed was 45 km / h and the range was 130 km.
The larger Tama Senior was built in parallel . At the end of 1951 production was stopped and Prince Jidōsha Kōgyō gave up the production of small cars with electric drives.
