24 years after the "Blitz" model series was discontinued and eleven years after the Opel Bedford Blitz was discontinued in Germany, Opel presented a successor that was also offered as the Vauxhall .

With the Opel Movano, a medium-sized van came onto the market in autumn 1998, which the Rüsselsheim-based car manufacturer developed in cooperation with Renault and Nissan. The Movano A was therefore identical to the second generation of the Renault Master . At the beginning of 2002, another offshoot of the Opel Movano was added with the Nissan Interstar .

Facelift

In October 2003 the Movano was visually redesigned. It received a completely redesigned front and the rear was slightly modified.

The range of models was by two new common rail - turbodiesel engines expanded with 2.5 liter 74 kW (101 hp) and a 3.0 liter with 100 kW (136 hp). The 2.5 DTI with 84 kW remained in the range and was now marketed as CDTI. In addition to a manual five-speed transmission, an automated manual transmission called Tec-Shift was now also available.
The 2.5 liter common rail turbodiesel was offered in autumn 2006 with two new output levels, with 88 kW (120 PS) and 107 kW (146 PS). The 84 kW is no longer available; the 74 kW variant of the 2.5 CDTI is still available. The 3.0 CDTI with 100 kW has also been replaced by the more powerful 2.5 CDTI with 107 kW.

Production was discontinued in December 2009.

The Movano B, which was again completely redeveloped in cooperation with Renault and Renault-Nissan , has been manufactured as Opel (and Vauxhall) since February 2010. Renault's sister model is the third generation of the Renault Master . Similar to the NV200, Nissan has now named its model Nissan NV400 .

There are four different lengths available for the panel van, combined with three different heights, some with front-wheel drive, some with rear-wheel drive. There are the following variants with front-wheel drive: L1H1, L1H2, L2H2, L2H3, L3H2 and L3H3. With rear-wheel drive there are the versions L3H2, L3H3, L4H2 and L4H3.

The Movano B comes with a 2.3 liter common rail turbodiesel with three output levels 74 kW (100 PS), 92 kW (125 PS) and 110 kW (150 PS) (up to 03/13: 107 kW (147 PS)) offered. All variants are available with a manual six-speed gearbox.

In December 2010, the model was recalled due to problems with the rear axle and insufficient hold of the seat belts.

In May 2012 the revised 2.3-liter diesel engines with 74 and 92 kW went on sale. Thanks to changes to the oil and servo pumps as well as the engine control, these are now up to nine percent more economical than before. The front-wheel drive panel van now only consumes 7.8 liters of diesel (205 g CO 2 / km). Bluetooth technology and a USB connection have been standard equipment since then, while the infotainment system has been revised.

In the summer of 2014, the Movano received a slight facelift, during which the infotainment systems were renewed, and ESP has also been standard since then.
