Previous model Opel Tigra

The Opel Tigra TwinTop is a roadster (internal: Type XC / Roadster) that was manufactured by Heuliez in France from June 2004 to May 2009 . Due to its name, among other things, it represents the successor to the Opel Tigra coupé that was manufactured until mid-2001 .

history

Tigra Twintop with OPC line package

After a break of around three years, from October 2004 Opel again offered a model with the name Tigra, which was no longer a coupé, but a small roadster . The car also has a retractable steel roof, hence the name "TwinTop".

Two petrol engines (1.4 and 1.8 l) and one diesel (1.3 CDTI) were available in the engine range.

It is based on the gamma platform from GM : The aggregates, vehicle base and the interior comes largely from the Corsa C . The CDTI engine was jointly developed by GM Powertrain and Fiat .

After the end of the joint venture, General Motors and Fiat will share the intellectual rights to this engine; production will continue to be carried out by Fiat based on long-term supply contracts. The 1.3 CDTI from the ECOTEC engine family from Opel was voted engine of the year 2005 in the 1.0 to 1.4 l displacement class.

In contrast to other cars with a retractable steel roof, the two-part roof does not disappear completely in the trunk , but rather behind the seats. This means that a trunk volume of 250 liters is available even with the roof open. With the roof closed, the trunk volume is 440 liters. Another storage compartment with a capacity of 53 liters is located behind the seats.

Production of the Opel Tigra ended in May 2009 after 90,874 units were produced.
