The Opel 7/34 PS was a mid-range passenger car that Opel built from October 1927 to October 1928 as the successor to the 6/16 PS model .

technology

The engine was a six-cylinder in - line engine with 1735 cm³ displacement, the 34 HP (25 kW) at 3600 / min. performed. This enabled the car to reach a top speed of 90 km / h.

The car was available ex works as a chassis with 720 kg, as a touring car or as a sedan with 1170 kg.

The engine power was passed on to the rear axle via a manual three-speed gearbox with center shift. The foot brake operated drum brakes on all four wheels via cables, while the handbrake acted on the cardan shaft .

Superstructures and prices

The car was designed simply, which made production cheaper. The cheapest, factory-body version was the touring car, which cost 4600 RM and was therefore very cheap for a six-cylinder car. There was also a four-door sedan for 4900 RM and a luxury sedan of 5400 RM. All superstructures were 4250 mm long and were built on chassis with a 2880 mm wheelbase.

In addition, there were special superstructures on customer request that were manufactured by the Otto Kühn bodyworks .

Successor and number of pieces

In October 1928 the 7/34 PS was replaced by the slightly larger, but similarly constructed 8/40 PS . Together with this, 20,580 copies were created in almost three years. This made Opel one of the largest manufacturers of mid-range cars in Germany in the 1920s.
