The Opel 9/30 PS was an upper middle class passenger car that Adam Opel KG built from 1922 to the end of 1924 as the successor to the 9/25 PS model .

In 1922 Opel presented two models as successors to the 9/25 PS model that had been built for many years, the 9/30 PS and the 10/30 PS .

The engine of the 9/30 PS was a four - cylinder block engine with a displacement of 2332 cm³, which made 30 PS (22 kW) at 1600 rpm. This engine was basically a more powerful version of the previous model.

The car had a frame made of steel U-profiles, on which both rigid axles were suspended with semi-elliptical longitudinal leaf springs. The service brake was a band brake that acted on the transmission output shaft. The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a leather cone clutch, a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . Opel used the cone clutch and band brake on this model for the last time.

A touring car , a Pullman limousine , a landaulet and a roadster were available as factory bodies .

The last time this model was given the suffix “Motorwagen”, which originally distinguished automobiles from horse-drawn wagons. This was already perceived as an anachronism in the early 1920s . Together with the production of the 10/30 PS and 10/35 PS, the 9/30 PS was also discontinued at the end of 1924. The successor in the following year was the 10/40 hp .
