Opel Corsa

The Corsa is a small car from the Rüsselsheim automobile manufacturer Opel that has been in production since autumn 1982.

The Corsa B and C are based on the GM-Gamma platform , the Corsa D and E on the Punto3-ZFA199 / GM-SCCS platform. The Corsa F and its electric version Corsa-e are based on the PSA Group's CMP (EMP1) platform .

The sixth generation Corsa F and the electric Corsa-e were presented in May 2019 and have been on sale since June 2019.

In most European countries the Opel Corsa is available under the name Opel Corsa . In the United Kingdom the Corsa A was or is sold as the Vauxhall Nova and the Corsa B to E as the Vauxhall Corsa . In Japan it is called Opel Vita, as the Toyota Corsa has been around there since 1978. In Australia , the Corsa B and C were offered as the Holden Barina . However, the current Barina is based on the Chevrolet Kalos . The Vauxhall Corsavan is also based on the Opel Corsa.

On January 24, 2008, the ten millionth Corsa rolled off the assembly line at the Opel plant in Eisenach . The last Corsa (E) rolled off the assembly line there on May 3, 2019.

Overview of the individual Corsa series

Corsa A

The Corsa A (internal: S83) was produced from autumn 1982 to early 1993. It was built in the General Motors plant in Figueruelas, Spain (approx. 30 km northwest of Saragossa ) under the Opel brand and as Nova under the Vauxhall brand . On a floor assembly with a wheelbase of 2,343 millimeters emerged Station Wagons with two or four doors and notchback - sedans with two or four doors.

The engine range comprised gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.0 to 1.6 liters as well as diesel engines with a displacement of 1.5 liters with and without turbo- charging. The power spectrum ranged from 33 kW to 74 kW (45 to 100 hp ).

Corsa B

The Corsa B (internal: S93) was produced in Europe from the beginning of 1993 to late summer 2000. For the core markets it was built in various European General Motors plants under the brands Opel and Vauxhall. Station wagons with two and four doors were built on a floor pan with a wheelbase of 2443 millimeters for the core markets. Four-door notchback sedans, four-door station wagons , two-door pick-ups and two-door convertibles were also produced for other, non-European markets ; some of them were sold under other GM brands such as Chevrolet, Buick and Holden.

The engine program included gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.0 to 1.6 liters and diesel engines with a displacement of 1.5 to 1.7 liters with and without turbocharging. The power spectrum ranged from 33 kW to 80 kW (45 to 109 hp).

The same floor pan used the Opel Tigra sports coupé .

Corsa C

The Corsa C (internal: X01) was produced in Europe from autumn 2000 to summer 2006. For the core markets it was built in various European General Motors plants under the brands Opel and Vauxhall. On a floor pan with a wheelbase of 2491 millimeters, station wagons with two and four doors were built for the core markets. Four-door notchback sedans and four-door station wagons were also created for other, non-European markets; some of them were sold under other GM brands such as Chevrolet, Buick and Holden.

The engine range comprised gasoline engines from 1.0 to 1.8 liters displacement and diesel engines from 1.3 to 1.7 liters displacement with and without turbocharging. The power spectrum ranged from 43 kW to 92 kW (58 to 125 hp).

The same floor pan was used by the Opel Tigra TwinTop convertible coupé , the Opel Meriva mini van and the Opel Combo panel van model .

Corsa D

The Corsa D (internal: S07) was produced in Europe from summer 2006 to autumn 2014. In 2011 the Corsa D received a facelift, which is mainly recognizable by a modified front section.

For the core markets, the Corsa was built in various European General Motors plants under the Opel and Vauxhall brands. On a floor pan with a wheelbase of now 2511 millimeters, station wagons with two and four doors were built for the core markets. For other, non-European markets, other variants were created, some under other GM brands.

The engine range comprised gasoline engines from 1.0 to 1.6 liters and turbocharged diesel engines from 1.3 to 1.7 liters. The power spectrum ranged from 44 kW to 155 kW (60 to 210 hp).

Corsa E

The fifth generation Corsa E (internal: X15) has been produced in Europe since November 2014. For the core markets, it is built in various European General Motors plants under the Opel and Vauxhall brands. On a floor assembly with a wheelbase of 2510 millimeters, station wagons with two and four doors are built for the core markets. For other, non-European markets, further variants are being created, some under other GM brands.

The engine range includes gasoline engines from 1.0 to 1.6 liters and supercharged diesel engines with 1.3 liters. The power spectrum ranges from 51 kW to 152 kW (69 to 207 hp).

Corsa F and Corsa-e

The Corsa F was officially presented by Opel in May 2019. For the first time there is also a variant with an electric motor, the Corsa-e . The platform brother Peugeot 208 II and Peugeot e-208 also use the technical base .

The Corsa F is now only available as a 4 door.

The interior is based on very Opel Astra K . For the first time there are matrix LED headlights in the small car class , which were previously only available for the Opel Astra K and Insignia B models.

It is only built in the Opel Zaragoza plant and is only offered as a five-door model.

Model variants for individual countries

In many countries, especially outside Europe , the Corsa C was not yet replaced by the Corsa D until May 2007. There is also a pick-up version of the Corsa C, which is offered in Kenya and South Africa as the Corsa Utility , in Brazil , Uruguay and Venezuela as the Chevrolet Montana .

The Corsa B was also produced in some countries. In South Africa, the earlier version (before 1997) was offered as Corsa Lite , while in India the later version (from 1997) was sold under the names Corsa Sail (hatchback) , Corsa Joy (notchback) and Corsa Swing (caravan) .

Especially in South America , Corsa offshoots were offered under the name Chevrolet Corsa .

A slightly revised Corsa C was sold in Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador , Mexico and Uruguay with a hatchback and notchback under the name Corsa .

The Chevrolet Celta , which has been available in Brazil and Uruguay since 2000, and later also in Argentina, is a heavily modified Opel Corsa B with design elements (e.g. headlights) from the Opel Vectra . Its notchback offshoot, offered from 2007, bears the name Chevrolet Prisma .

In other markets, however, the Corsa was marketed as the Opel Vita . This market name was used for the second and third generation in the markets of East Africa . With the export of the vehicles, the name was also used in Japan .
