Opel Ascona

The Opel Ascona refers to a mid-range Opel model series that was built between 1970 and 1988 and was located in the model range between the Kadett and the Rekord (or from 1986 the Omega ). The name Ascona comes from the place of the same name on Lake Maggiore in Italian-speaking Switzerland.

By the late 1950s were in Switzerland several special models of the Olympia Rekord P1 than Ascona referred. In addition, there was a special equipment variant of the Kadett B as the Ascona 1700 in Switzerland at the end of the 1960s .

The successor to the Opel Ascona is the Opel Vectra .
