The Renault Modus is a Renault minivan that was produced by Factoría Carrocería Montaje Valladolid Renault España in Valladolid from August 2004 to December 2012 .

In spring 2008, the mode was expanded to include a facelift by a 16 cm longer version called Grand Modus.

Its successor is the Renault Captur I SUV launched in June 2013 .

history

In spring 2004, the Modus was presented as a study at the Geneva Motor Show as Modus². It is a derivative of its platform brother, the third Renault Clio , launched in late summer 2005. Both models combine approximately 20% identical parts. The Nissan Micra and Nissan Note presented in the same year are also on the same platform .

It has an optionally mountable bike rack called Velofix that can accommodate two bikes. Another special feature is the triptic bench in which the two outer seats of the rear bench are pushed together in the middle after the seat cushion has been folded up. The bench can then be pushed back to ensure greater legroom or a larger trunk, depending on the position.

safety

The Renault Modus reached 2004 Euro NCAP - Crash test in the evaluation of occupant safety with 33 points, the maximum of five stars in occupant safety for children 38 points and four stars and with 6 points in the evaluation of a possible four stars pedestrian safety.

Facelift and Grand Modus

In April 2008, the mode received a revision. This also included redesigned bumpers, headlights and taillights.

The Grand Modus is an extended version of the Renault Modus and was available after the revision. The Renault Grand Modus does not have a triptic rear bench seat. Instead, there is a 4-stage adjustable normal 3-seater bench, as the wheelbase has also been extended in Grand Modus. The external length has increased by 161 mm to 4034 mm and the wheelbase has also been increased by 93 mm to 2575 mm. At the same time, the mode got a facelift. Especially the headlights, as well as the rear section including the taillights, have been adapted to the Renault family face. There are also many new storage options in the interior. The load volume with the rear seat folded down is now 1,454 liters. In terms of engines, the 1.5 dCi with 63 kW (86 PS) now has a diesel particulate filter and a 6th gear, as the model with 76 kW (103 PS) already had.

With the new headlights, the bulbs can now be changed yourself, which was not possible with the predecessor and has often been criticized. However, changing the lamp is also associated with considerable effort, since the openings that were created for this purpose turn out to be small.
