The Renault Latitude is an upper mid-range sedan from the French car manufacturer Renault . It is the successor to the Renault Vel Satis, which was discontinued at the end of 2009, and went on sale in Asia, Australia and Eastern Europe in autumn 2010. It was offered in Western Europe from the beginning of 2011.
Due to a lack of success, the Latitude was no longer offered in Germany from the end of October 2012. In some countries outside Europe it was still available until 2015, partly as Renault Safrane . The Renault Talisman presented in 2015 replaces the Laguna III and the Latitude. The structurally identical Samsung SM5 will still be offered beyond 2015.
technology
It is based on the Korean Samsung SM5 from Renault Samsung Motors and is built in the same plant as this one. The Latitude is thus related to the Nissan Maxima . The engines and drivetrains are taken over from the Renault Laguna III .
The vehicle is 4.89 meters long and 1.83 meters wide, the wheelbase is 2.76 meters. The trunk volume is given as 477 liters.
In Germany, the vehicle was only offered in one equipment variant and with three engine variants, a 2.0-liter gasoline engine from Nissan with 103 kW / 140 PS, a diesel with the same displacement with 127 kW / 173 PS and a 3.0-liter V6 Diesel with 177 kW / 241 PS. The vehicle was initially only available in Germany by leasing or renting; a few months later, Renault changed its distribution system so that the Latitude could also be purchased.
In all other European countries where the Latitude was offered, various equipment variants with several options and seven paint finishes were available.
