The Renault Type IR , and 40 CV called, was a passenger car model of the interwar period of Renault .

description

The national licensing authority granted its approval on May 3, 1921. The predecessor was the Renault Type HF . Model updates led to Type IR 1 and Type IR 2 , both of which received approval on April 11, 1922. The Renault Type JD was a variant. In 1923 the successor Renault Type MC followed .

The water-cooled six - cylinder engine with a 110 mm bore and 160 mm stroke developed 140 hp from a 9123 cm³ displacement . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft .

With a wheelbase of either 380 cm or 399 cm, the vehicle was 493 cm or 512 cm long and 170 cm wide. The turning circle was given as 15 to 16 meters. The chassis weighed 1680 kg, the complete vehicle between 2350 kg and 2500 kg. Only a limousine has survived . The chassis cost the same 45,000 francs in both lengths .

Type IR

This model did not have front brakes. The maximum speed was specified as 76 km / h to 95 km / h, depending on the gear ratio.

Type IR 1

This 1922 model had front brakes. Due to different gear ratios, the top speed was specified as 70 km / h to 92 km / h.

Type IR 2

The only known difference to type IR 1 is that this model was still offered in 1923.
