The Renault Type X was an early passenger car model from Renault . There were the versions Type X (a) , Type X (b) , Type X (c) and Type X-1 . They were also called 14 CV and 14/20 CV in 1909. A variant was the Renault Type AB .

Renault manufactured this model from 1905 as the successor to the Renault Type U (b) . The national licensing authority granted the license on January 14, 1905. The Renault Type BX followed in 1909 .

A water-cooled four - cylinder engine with a 90 mm bore and 120 mm stroke produced 14 hp from a displacement of 3054 cm³ . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The maximum speed was specified as 49 km / h to 71 km / h, depending on the gear ratio.

Renault Type X (a)

With a wheelbase of 272 cm and a track width of 135 cm, the vehicle was 380 cm long and 160 cm wide. The chassis weighed 900 kg, the complete vehicle 1200 to 1400 kg. The price was 13,000 francs or 14,500 francs for a double phaeton . The replacement followed in 1907.

Renault Type X (b)

The wheelbase was 291 cm and the vehicle length was 400 cm. Track width and width were the same. The price was 13,500 francs. The sedan body shape has been handed down. In 1907 this version was discontinued.

Renault Type X (c)

This variant was only offered in 1905. The wheelbase was shortened to 260 cm or 269 cm. The track width was only 126 cm. The vehicle was 360 cm long and 153 cm wide. The Bonhams auction house offered the vehicle with the British registration number IO 117 on September 13, 2008 and expected a price of 210,000 to 240,000 euros .
