Renault Type AG

The national licensing authority granted its approval on September 26, 1905.

A water-cooled two - cylinder engine with a 75 mm bore and 120 mm stroke produced 8 hp from a displacement of 1060 cm³ . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The top speed was specified as 34 km / h to 46 km / h, depending on the gear ratio.

With a wheelbase of 262 cm and a track width of 126 cm, the vehicle was 360 cm long, 155 cm wide and 215 cm high. The chassis weighed 540 kg, the complete vehicle 1050 kg. The Landaulet body version has survived.

The chassis cost 5700 francs .

Renault Type AG-1

This version received its approval from the national licensing authority on November 18, 1907. The bore was increased to 80 mm, resulting in a displacement of 1206 cm³. The power was now given as 7 hp. Tax class and speed remained unchanged.

The wheelbase was initially 255 cm, from 1910 253 cm, from 1911 258 cm and from 1913 258.5 cm. The track was 132 cm. The vehicle was initially 351 cm long and from 1911 or 1913 375 cm. The width was initially 155.6 cm, 162.5 cm from 1910 and 160 cm from 1911 or 1913.

The chassis also initially cost 5700 francs. In December 1907 or 1909 the price rose to 5900 francs and in 1913 it fell to 5600 francs.

From 1912, the G 3 version was available for the taxi company Compagnie Générale des Voitures à Paris with left-hand drive.

The taxis were usually bodied as landaulets. There were also versions as sedan , Phaeton , double phaeton and panel van .

customer

Renault founded the Compagnie Française des Automobiles de Place taxi company in March 1905 . This company purchased 250 vehicles in 1905, 1,000 vehicles in 1906 and another 1,500 vehicles in 1909. There were also two other Paris taxi companies that preferred this model. The vehicles of these three companies were given different license plates, which ended in G 2 (for the taxi company Kermina Métropole ), G 3 and G 7 . Of the 10,000 or so taxis that existed in Paris in 1914, over 80% were of this model.

Taxi de la Marne

At the beginning of the First World War , around 1,300 of these taxis drove French soldiers to the front for the First Battle of the Marne . Hence the name "Taxi de la Marne" comes from.
