Ludwig "Luggi" Leitner (born February 24, 1940 in Mittelberg , Kleinwalsertal ; † March 21, 2013 there ) was an Austrian-German ski racer .

Life

Ludwig Leitner, born as the second son of a family of mountain farmers , started skiing at the age of two. In addition to the regional school ski races, he also took part in the German Youth Championships. In 1958 he was a participant in the Alpine World Ski Championships in Bad Gastein , at that time still for the Austrian team. For the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , he took German citizenship in 1959 .

In 1964 he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by the German President . As a double for James Bond actor George Lazenby, he worked in the film James Bond 007 - On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969).

Luggi Leitner from Mittelberg ran a hotel in his home town with his wife Renate. His brother Adalbert Leitner , who was also a ski racer, drove for Austria and from 1965/66 for the German Ski Association (A report according to the footnote shows: As it became known on the evening of September 1, 1965 in Munich, from the coming season for the German Ski Association start. )
Adalbert Leitner now lives in Canada .
