Construction des Automobiles Renault en Algérie SPA (short CARAL or Caral Renault Algérie ) was an automobile and commercial vehicle manufacturer of the Renault group. The company's headquarters were in El-Harrach in Algiers .

history

The company was founded in 1959. In 1967, the sales company Société algérienne des automobiles Renault (SADAR) , which had existed since 1922, merged with CARAL to form CARAL Renault Algérie . Before the closure in July 1970, CARAL produced 15,000 passenger cars a year.

CARAL manufactured the Renault 4 , Renault 8 and Renault 16 models . In 1968 the company had 735 employees. The company was nationalized in 1969 or 1970.

It was not until 1986 that Renault set up an agency in Algeria again. Renault Algérie Production was founded in 2013 and started production a year later.
