Kungsbacka is a city in the Swedish province of Hallands Lan and the capital of the municipality of the same name (Kungsbacka kommun). Until 2010, Kungsbacka was an independent crime scene with the last 19,057 inhabitants; since then the population has grown to over 20,000, and the place is now part of the Gothenburg crime scene .

history

In the Middle Ages there was a market place here on the Danish side of the border with Sweden. As long as Kungsbacka was part of Denmark, it was one of the smallest cities in the country. Even after the city fell to Sweden in 1645, it did not develop significantly, as nearby Gothenburg withdrew workers and workshops. In the middle of the 19th century there was a big fire in the city, after which the place was rebuilt.

From the 1960s onwards, extensive residential areas emerged in the " bacon belt " of Gothenburg, through which the cities finally grew together.

Attractions

In the center of the city is the so-called “Red Hut” (röda stugan). This building is one of the few that was not destroyed in the fire of 1846. The goldsmith von Kungsbacka had his workshop here in the 18th century. In the central square there is a bronze sculpture called "Tree of Life". Nearby is the burial ground of Li .
