Bengt Andersson (born August 11, 1966 in Kungsbacka ) is a Swedish football player . The goalkeeper , who made his debut for the Swedish national team in 1995 , won the Lennart Johansson Cup for the Swedish championship with IFK Göteborg in 2007 .

Career

Andersson played in his youth with Kungsbacka IF and Hanhals BK . In 1979, the goalkeeper moved to the youth department of GAIS , where he made his debut in the first team in 1984. Two years later he joined IK Brage , where he guarded the gate over 100 times by 1992. In 1993 he moved on to Örgryte IS , where he played his way into the national team thanks to good performances in the Allsvenskan . On June 4, 1995, he made his national team debut in the 0-1 defeat against the Brazilian national team. As a result, he was initially mainly a substitute behind Thomas Ravelli , before temporarily ousting him the following year.

As a national team goalkeeper, Andersson attracted international attention. In the summer of 1996 he therefore moved to Spain to CD Tenerife . Here he was luckless and came in his two years in the Primera División only on 20 appearances, so that he was inherited in the national team by Magnus Hedman and decided in the summer of 1998 to return to Sweden. At the traditional club IFK Göteborg , he immediately established himself as a regular goalkeeper, but had to wait until 2007 to win his first title. After winning the Swedish championship, the now 41-year-old announced the end of his professional career.

Andersson joined the sixth division Tölö IF . In the summer, however, he returned to higher-class football when he joined the Norwegian club Moss FK in the second-rate Adeccoligaen . In early 2009, IFK Norrköping announced interest in signing Andersson as a substitute goalkeeper, as the actual substitute David Nilsson had injured himself in the pre-season. Ultimately, the commitment did not materialize.

Andersson returned to the Allsvenskan in May. At his former club Örgryte IS, goalkeepers Nathan Coe and Peter Abrahamsson were injured and the team was bottom of the table with only one point gain. After even a comeback of sports director Dick Last was considered, the club decided to reactivate the eleven-time national player by the summer break in early June. Thanks to good performance, the club extended the contract until the end of the season. Andersson stayed as a regular between the posts of the Gothenburg club, but could not prevent the relegation of the promoted team. Although he wanted to continue playing actively, the Gothenburg club did not renew his contract.

Andersson therefore continued his career in the amateur field, in April 2011 he joined the seventh division Önnereds IK . A short time later, the fourth division Assyriska BK signed him as a goalkeeping coach. At the end of 2012, the fifth division Kållered SK signed him as the new head coach. In the summer of 2013 he was reactivated and joined again as an experienced third goalkeeper in the relegation battle in the second-rate Superettan on Örgryte IS. Until the end of the season he remained without use while the club was relegated to the third division as the table penultimate.
