The Clarke Bay , a 10 km wide bay on the Lassiter Coast of Palmer Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located south of Cape Fiske on the east side of the Smith Peninsula . The bay is flanked west by a glacier and is usually occupied by sea ice . As discovered in 2008, Clarke Bay is one of the breeding grounds for emperor penguins .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on 17 March 2009 after the British marine biologist Andrew C. Clarke of the University of St Andrews and the University of East Anglia , who for a senior scientist 2000-2009 British Antarctic Survey was active and from 1988 to 1999 headed their marine biology department.
