Madelen Fatimma Maria Janogy (born November 12, 1995 in Falköping ) is a Swedish national soccer player . She is the first player with African roots to play for the Swedish national women's team.

Career

Janogy started playing soccer when he was 11. From 2010 she played for her hometown club Falköpings KIK , first in Söderettan and from 2013 in Division 1 Norra Götaland, where she scored 32 goals in 21 games. In 2014, after 12 games with 14 goals in the current season, she moved to Elitettan -Club Mallbackens IF , where she scored six goals in 12 games and helped to win the championship, which enabled the club to play in the first division from the 2015 season . Here she scored only two goals in 21 games, but in the end the club had a goal difference that was one goal better than the second from last and thus avoided direct relegation. In 2016 she scored three more goals, but this was not enough to avoid relegation as bottom of the table. Janogy then moved to Piteå IF , where she scored seven goals in 22 games in 2017 and finished fourth with the club. In 2018 she could only score four goals in 21 games, but celebrate the championship with her club at the end of the season. She finished the 2019 season with Piteå in sixth place. In the 2019/20 UEFA Women's Champions League , she and the team failed in the round of 32 against Danish runners-up Brøndby IF , as they lost 1-0 at home and only scored 1-1 in the away game. In January 2020 she switched to the German champions VfL Wolfsburg .

National team

Janogy went through the Swedish national teams without scoring a goal. On January 21, 2019, she made her debut in a goalless draw against South Africa in the Swedish national team. She came on in Cape Town in the 61st minute. At the Algarve Cup 2019 , she had a 90-minute mission in the 4-1 win against Switzerland .

On May 16, she was also nominated for the World Cup . In the last test match before the World Cup against South Korea , she came on in the 78th minute and scored the only goal of the game with her first international goal in the first minute of stoppage time.

She was substituted on in three games at the World Cup. In the first group game against Chile , she scored the goal to make it 2-0 in the fourth minute of stoppage time. In the 5-1 game in the second group game, she came onto the pitch in the second half. As group runner-up they reached the knockout round, where they came on in the semifinals against European champions Netherlands in the 79th minute. Their team lost through a goal in extra time, but then won the game for third place against England .

Madelen was born in Falköping to a Swedish mother and a father from Mali and, like her sister Victoria, was named after the daughters of the Swedish king .
