The IF Trion is a Swedish football club in Spjutsbygd . The club is known for its women's soccer team, which temporarily played in Damallsvenskan .

history

The IF Trion was created in 1935 from the merger of the three clubs IF Dacke , Spjutsbygds AIS and IF Fenix . The club offered football, athletics and orienteering as sports . In 1938 the soccer team first took part in league operations, but initially the focus was on athletics.

Men's soccer

In 1958, the soccer team was promoted to fourth class for the first time. Right away she established herself in the front area and in 1961 made the leap into the third-class Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland . In the first year the league succeeded, but in 1963 the club finished last. In the following years he sat in the midfield of the fourth division, but was increasingly in danger of relegation towards the end of the 1960s. In 1972 he was also relegated from Division 4 Blekinge .

After the recovery in 1975 IF Trion belonged again to the regular teams in the fourth division. At the beginning of the 1980s, the club played for the return to the third division, which was accomplished in 1983 as a season winner. There the team missed relegation, but was able to rise again directly as Steffel winner. The following year the club survived a league reform in the third division. In 1988 the team rose again after three wins this season. In the following years, passed through to seventh division, it disappeared from higher-class football.

Women's soccer

In 1978 a women's football department was established at IF Trion. After the team initially competed in fourth class, they were promoted to second class Division 2 by 1983 . Here it established itself before it was downgraded to third class after the introduction of Damallsvenskan in 1988.

At the end of the third division season in 1997, IF Trion again made it into the second division. Although multi-talented players were poached by first division teams, the club established itself in the top division over time. 2001 succeeded as the season winner for the first time promotion to the Damallsvenskan. In the first year in the Swedish elite series, the newcomer finished eighth in the table. In the 2003 season , however, only two wins of the season, so that the team as bottom of the table had to relegate together with the women's team from Östers IF again.

After relegation, IF Trion could not hold the level. In the following years the team was passed up to the fifth division.
