Falu BS
Falu BS is a Swedish sports club from the city of Falun .
history
Falu BS was founded on December 10, 1935. At that time it emerged from the merger of the sports clubs Falu BK, Holmens IF, Falu SK and IFK Falun. Bandy , which was played alongside other sports in the four clubs, developed into the most important department in the new club.
In 1936 the bandy team started in Division 2. The team played their home games at Matcherna Främbyviken or Kvarnbergsplan, which would later be called Kopparvallen .
In the 1939/1940 season, the club rose for the first time in the top division, the Bandyallsvenskan . After two more seasons in the league, the club rose again. In the following years, the club shuttled between the first and second division, before the club's most successful period began in the early 1970s. Falu BS became Swedish champions in 1971 and 1974 . In 1976 and 1999, the sports club reached the final of the Swedish championship, but lost these games.
In the 2018/2019 season, the club rose from the Bandyallsvenskan to the now top division, the Elitserien . The club plays its home games at Lugnets -Eisstadion out in Falun.
The less successful footballers of the club were only able to qualify three times (as of 2018) for the second Swedish league (formerly Division 2, later Superettan ), but were immediately relegated (1953/54, 1975 and 1985 seasons). In the 2006 season, Falu BS played in Division 1 Norra (3rd division) and played his home games in Kopparvallen .
