Bandyallsvenskan
The Bandyallsvenskan is the second highest league in Swedish bandy after the Elitserien . Until the 2006/07 season it was the top division.
Game mode until 2007
The first Bandyallsvenskan was launched on January 6, 1931. Until 2007 the league was divided into a Nordallsvenskan and a southern group, each with 8 teams. Each team played twice against each other team (home and away). After the order after all the games in the north and south group was determined (around Christmas / New Year), the four best placed teams from both groups played in the so-called Elitserien . The four last placed in both groups also played in their own league, the Superallsvenskan .
In the Elitserien , the teams played everyone against everyone (but only once). Then the knockout system (quarter and semi-finals) continued until the finalists were determined, who then played for the Swedish championship . The teams in places five to eight of the Elitserien had to play a round of 16 against the four best placed Superallsvenskan .
Game mode after 2007
There were increasing efforts to abolish the Bandyallsvenskan in order to create an all-Swedish bandy league (without the knockout system). With the introduction of the Elitserien at the beginning of the 2007/08 season, the second point was fulfilled. The Bandyallsvenskan was retained and initially consisted of three groups (north, center, south). For the 2009/10 season there will only be one north and one south group.
