The Stadio Pier Cesare Tombolato is a football stadium with an athletics facility in Cittadella . The city of Cittadella is located in the province of Padua in the Italian region of Veneto .

history

The sports complex was opened in 1981. In addition to the covered main grandstand (west), there is the uncovered opposite grandstand. The rank in the north is intended for the guest fans. The name goes back to the former, young goalkeeper Pier Cesare Tombolato . He was killed in a crash during a game in 1957 when he was only 18 years old.

After promotion to Serie B , AS Cittadella played in the Stadio Euganeo in Padua from 2000 to 2002 ; because the stadium in Cittadella only had around 4,000 seats and did not meet the requirements. For the renewed rise in 2008 the Pier Cesare Tombolato was modernized and expanded; so that you don't have to move to another stadium again. The Italian football federation FIGC granted an exemption, as Serie B stadiums must have at least 10,000 seats.

For the first home games of the season, the club had to move to Treviso to the Stadio Omobono Tenni because the work in the stadium was not yet completed. The first game of the season in the renovated stadium took place on November 29, 2008 between AS and AC Ancona (0-0).

After the renovation, the facility offers 7,623 seats.

  • West stand: 1,253 seats
  • East stand: 5,226 seats
  • North curve: 1,144 seats
