The Stadio Romeo Menti is a football stadium in the Italian city ​​of Castellammare di Stabia . It has space for 12,800 spectators and serves as the home of the SS Juve Stabia club .

history

The Stadio Romeo Menti in Castellammare di Stabia, a port city with a good 60,000 inhabitants on the Gulf of Naples in the Campania region , was built in 1984 and opened one year later in 1985. For the first game in the new stadium, the future home side, the SS Juve Stabia, and the local rival and then first division US Avellino met for a friendly game, which Juve Stabia won 3-1. Since that day, the SS Juve Stabia has been using the Stadio Romeo Menti as a venue for home football matches. The club has so far played one season in the second-rate Serie B , the remaining years the club, founded in 1907, was to be found in the lower leagues of Italian football. For the 2011/12 season , Juve Stabia qualified for Serie B for the second time in the club's history, for the first time since 1952.

The Stadio Romeo Menti is named after Romeo Menti . It therefore has the same name as the stadium of Vicenza Calcio . Menti was an Italian football player in the 1940s who was on loan from AC Turin to Juve Stabia for a year in 1945 . Afterwards Menti was part of the big AC Turin team, the Grande Torino , and died like almost all of his teammates on May 4, 1949 in the plane crash of the plane that brought the AC Turin players back home from an away game in Lisbon should.
