The Stadio Dino Manuzzi ( currently Orogel Stadium - Dino Manuzzi through a sponsorship contract ) is the municipal football stadium of the Italian city of Cesena . It is in the province of Forlì-Cesena in the region of Emilia-Romagna . The football club Cesena FC is the main user of the venue.
history
The football stadium was opened in 1957 and was then called Stadio La Fiorita . In the beginning there was only one audience rank. In 1982 the name of the arena was changed in honor of the entrepreneur and former president of the association (1964–1980) Dino Manuzzi (1907–1982). Thanks to tubular steel stands, the stadium could accommodate up to 30,000 fans. In 1988 the stadium was completely renovated. The original plan was to demolish the entire venue. The main grandstand was renovated (1,844 seats) and covered, two-story grandstands were built on the opposite side (9,592 seats) and behind the gates (6,212 seats each). Today there are 23,860 seats available for spectators.
The final of the European Women's Football Championship in 1993 took place in Cesena. On July 4, the team from Norway won 1-0 against Italy .
In Cesena there are plans to build a new stadium. Since Italy competed for the 2016 European Football Championship ; Cesena applied as one of the venues. Ultimately, however, the European Championship was awarded to France . A first examination of the applicant cities has already been carried out. The Stadio Dino Manuzzi would then have been torn down. However, Italy's application was not successful and no new stadium will be built in Cesena.
Due to a sponsorship agreement with the food company Orogel, headquartered in Cesena, the facility has been called Orogel Stadium - Dino Manuzzi since 2014 .
